Authorities have erected a new barrier on Backwater Bridge just north of the Oceti Sakowin Camp.
A crane was brought in last night to place multiple concrete slabs on the bridge.
Protestors recently removed two burnt vehicles that had been on the bridge since last month.
The bridge was also the site of a standoff between protestors and law enforcement Sunday evening.
Some campers wonder why authorities have put the new barrier in place.
“They don’t like they’re in danger, They have a lot of protection on them. We’re the ones that are just out here trying to stop something that’s affecting a lot of people out here and they are just taking it out of hand,” says Brandon Salimi, Camper
Authorities did not respond when asked about the new barriers.
