A program designed to help children who come from low income households is expanding.
Backpack buddies provides food for children at risk of hunger on the weekends.
The program is run by volunteers and is run by various organizations across the state.
Backpack buddies in Minot will soon be adding a sixth elementary school to their list- helping over 200 kids.
The program has partnered with students at Minot High who are hosting a week long food drive.
“It’s very important the community get involved and you it’s not necessarily that you give money or – but give your time come and help us pack the food or donate foods that we need, those kind of things,” said Rich Berg with Souris United Way.
