Minot residents will notice a few changes to the city code. This comes after the council held s special meeting to discuss prohibited and nuisance animals.

A hot topic was the prohibition on pitbulls Many residents has strong opinions for and against them.

The city did not pass a motion that would allow pitbulls within city limits.

It was recommended that the city pass a potentially dangerous and dangerous dog ordinance -which then suggested they also put an end to breed specific legislation.

With this ordinance any dog could be considered dangerous if it shows any bit of aggression towards a human or property.

If that were to happen that dog would then be closely monitored by the city.

The ordinance essentially places more responsibility on the owner.

The ordinance was passed but termination of breed specific legislation was not.

The city also passed a motion to allow snakes within city limits but of course with some provisions, snakes will have to be non venomous and non injurious.

All these motions need to go through another reading before they take effect.
