After nearly 30 years, a local Fire Department will soon be saying good-bye to one of their Battalion Chiefs. John Krill came to Minot through the Air Force, and joined the Fire Department in November of 1989. He fell in love with the city and decided to stick around, working his way up through the ranks until he became one of the battalion chiefs.
Over the years, the thrill of fighting fires has calmed down and he’s enjoyed the problem-solving for unique emergencies beyond just fires. He says the part he’ll miss most will be the people he’s met along the way.
“It started out as the excitement and then it kind of just went into helping people. I love people, like working with people,” says Battalion Chief John Krill, Minot Fire Department.
He has big plans for his newfound freetime, including fixing up an old Dodge Dart and spending time with the kids.
