With school just around the corner, students, parents, and teachers are gearing up for the start of the year. And there’s just three days left for kids to register before the start of classes.
Just this week Bismarck Public Schools is registering an average of 25 students per day. As of this morning, it already has close to 13,000 enrolled. That’s already 125 more children than at the start of school last year.
And the work doesn’t stop at the start of school! The central registration office takes care of those late enrollments. The Bismarck Public Schools Superintendent says employees are keeping plenty busy.
Tamara Uselman; Bismarck Public Schools Superintendent: “Our central registration office is busy 40 hours a week, constantly registering students. When people ask, ‘what’s your enrollement?’ it depends on what day you ask. It’s up and down, so it kind of ebbs and flows. Over the course of the year we have a steady increase.”
Uselman says they use a formula to project growth.. it’s 98 percent accurate and looks at factors like real estate, the business community and tracks birthdays.
