Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks earn spots on Forbes list

Bismarck, Fargo and Grand Forks have earned spots on the annual Forbes list of “Best Small Places For Business and Careers.”

Fargo ranks the highest of the three cites, coming in at #23.

Bismarck is second at #126, and Grand Forks is third at #129.

Sioux Falls, SD takes the top spot on the list.

Forbes’ data puts the Bismarck region’s population at just over 132,000 people.

The median household income for the Bismarck area is nearly $69,000, while the median house price is $257,000.

The Forbes data indicates was little or no job growth in the Bismarck area in 2017, and that the cost of living is slightly above the national average.

It also noted unemployment was very low at 2.9 percent.
