Bismarck Man Accused of Killing Infant Daughter Pleads Not Guilty

A man accused of killing his infant daughter will head to trial.

Today at the Burleigh County Courthouse, Jose Rivera-Rieffel waived his preliminary hearing.

He’s accused of murder with extreme indifference to another human life. It’s a class AA Felony, with a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Count two is a B Felony child abuse charge, with a victim under six years of age.

The third count is a misdemeanor for violating the terms of his probation by having contact with his 12-week-old daughter during the time he’s accused of killing her.

The State’s Attorney requested two weeks to prepare for a jury trial. No trial date has been set.
