Spencer Norton was found guilty of starting a fire at a Bismarck home back in November.
Today, Norton was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty by a jury in May. The judge suspended all but a year and a day of the sentence. The year will be added on to the three Norton is currently serving for threatening to harm police who investigated the fire.
The state also recommended he pay for damages. Norton asked the judge for a straight sentence without restitution, saying he’ll be unable to make payments while incarcerated.
The judge decided to wait to make a decision on restitution charges.
Norton will also serve two years probation following his jail time.
