Bismarck Police Chief Donlin goes from PD to NDDOT

Bismarck Police Chief Dan Donlin is going from the police department to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.

Donlin has submitted his official “Letter of Retirement” to the Bismarck City Commission.

His last scheduled work day is July 20th.

After that, he starts a new job as a Safety Liaison Officer for the state Department of Transportation’s Safety Division.

In this new role, Donlin will coordinate with various groups, including law enforcement, to advance the North Dakota “Vision Zero” initiative.

That program has the lofty goal of reducing deaths and injuries from motor vehicle accidents in the state to zero.

Donlin will also be involved in transportation department employee safety and security programs.
