Bismarck Police Department’s K-9 unit hosts annual meet and greet

The Bismarck Police Department hosted a meet and greet with its K-9 unit at KT Animal Supply on Saturday.

The department puts on the fundraiser every year to help raise money for their K-9 unit. People get a chance to purchase calendars, ask questions and interact with the dogs.

Sgt. Lyle Sinclair said the fundraiser and community go hand-in-hand.

As for the items sold, every dollar raised goes back to the K-9 Unit.

“The last two dogs were purchased by donated money,” Sinclair said. “A lot of the calendar sales buy equipment for the dogs that we need but may not budget for. There’s times when we will use the donation funds to pay for schooling for the dogs. The dogs and handlers go to a school to learn better tactics.” .

The Bismarck Police Department has four K-9 dogs.
