Bismarck – Bismarck Police are urging business owners to be on the lookout after several counterfeit 100 dollar bills were discovered Tuesday.
Police say a man tried to pass a fake bill at the O’Reilly Auto Parts on Interchange Avenue Tuesday afternoon around 2 pm. Police say the bill failed the pen test and also had some sort of Asian writing on the back of the bill. That case remains under investigation.
A second 100 dollar bill was found lying on the ground around 7 a.m. in the 1,000 block of North 8th Street. A resident found the bill while taking his garbage out and alerted police.
Police say a third 100 dollar bill was found by a man on the porch of his home Tuesday morning in the 1,800 block of Burnt Boat Drive. He later used the bill to purchase gas and other items from the Shell Gas Station on Tyler Parkway. Employees later discovered the bill was fake and alerted police. Investigators say the man did not know the bill was fake and returned to the gas station to pay for his items, he will not face charges.
