The Bismarck Police Department’s K9 member, Mesa, is getting a bullet and stab protective vest, thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc
Mesa’s vest is sponsored by the Bismarck Elks, weighs about 4 to 5 pounds, and is valued at roughly $2,000.
Mesa started her career with the Bismarck Police Department in 2017, working with Officer Joseph Benke. She is trained and certified in narcotics detection and criminal apprehension.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a Massachusetts based charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
On Tuesday, the organization also presented a protective vest to K9 Mako of the Morton County Sheriff’s Office.
