Bismarck residents asked to help ‘balance’ water use

The Bismarck Public Works Department is asking residents to help “balance” water use by restricting how often they water their lawns and use water for other outdoor projects.

The reason? Work on the city’s water plant.

In a post to the city’s Web site, the public works department notes the Bismarck water plant is undergoing a “filter media rehabilitation” project.

“We are replacing the filter media to increase efficiency and maintain cost effective operation at the plant,” the post notes. “During this project the plant will be at reduced capacity through the June 6th completion date. During this time, we ask water users to help us balance the water use.”

The department asks homeowners and businesses with even numbered addresses to restrict their outdoor watering to Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Homeowners and businesses with odd-numbered addresses are asked to restrict their outdoor watering to Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
