A Bismarck Public Schools student has been cited for terrorizing and placed in the custody of the Youth Correctional Center following a school threat Wednesday.
Yesterday afternoon, Bottineau Public Schools and Dakota College at Bottineau were shut down following a social media threat. Neighboring schools were also put on a soft lockdown.
Following an investigation, it was found out that the threat came through the social media platform Snapchat and was originally meant for Bismarck Public Schools. The acronym “BPS” was used in the threat which caused the confusion. No Bismarck schools were placed on lockdown.
A 16-year-old Bismarck Public School student was found to have made the posting. He was placed under custody in his home at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and cited for terrorizing. The student was turned over to the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.
