The construction of the West Broadway Bridge is ahead of schedule.
The first set of girders are being placed this week.
Girders are the long steel beams that go from pier to pier and help form the structure that the driving surface will be placed on.
A total of 40 will be placed in the next 10 days.
“They are a couple weeks ahead of where they were last year on the East bridge portion of the project but they have a lot of work to still get done over the last two or three months,” said project public information officer Mark Lyman.
They anticipate the bridge to be done sometime in October or November.
Lyman also wants to remind drivers to use caution when driving through the construction zone.
