A small brush fire burned about an acre of land just outside of Minot.
Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday evening both Velva and Minot Rural firefighters responded to a hay field fire.
Firefighters on scene say the fire was started by a hay baler.
Gusty winds then spread the fire on the field.
They were baling this up — you can see the round bales laying around –they were making those and obviously a barring or something might have been hot from that piece of equipment and the grass is dry,” said Minot Rural fire chief Rex Weltikol.
There were no injuries and both fire departments were able to contain it quickly.
