(AP) — Gov. Doug Burgum and other state and local leaders will meet with President Donald Trump and senior administration officials this week at the White House to talk about improving the nation’s infrastructure.

Burgum’s office says the governor was invited to Thursday’s meeting after spending some time with U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao at the Drone Focus Conference in Fargo last week.

The Trump administration is eyeing plans to encourage the sale of public assets, such as airports and bridges, to help pay for a $1 trillion overhaul of the nation’s aging infrastructure.

The Washington Post reported recently that Trump advisers are considering enticing state and local governments to sell some of their assets by paying them a bonus for doing so with the proceeds going to infrastructure projects.
