On election day, Kelly Leben was elected as Burleigh County’s new sheriff. He won’t begin the job until January 1st.
We caught up with the current sheriff, Pat Heinert about how he’s preparing Leben for the job.
Heinert says since the election results were in, the two have been going over everything from budgets, to letterhead. They’ve decided to make decisions together.
Pat Heinert; Sheriff: “As I’m going through my stuff, I’m going through stuff I know he has to be aware of. I gave him 7 files yesterday to start reading and catch up on…”
Kelly Leben; Sheriff Elect: Well I think the biggest surprise right now is everything the sheriff’s been doing now is also coming over to my plate, but I’ve still got my position.”
Heinert tells us after the legislative session is over, he will start looking at other career options.
