Students at Burlington Elementary are making a big impact on those who are battling cancer.
For the whole month of February, the pre-school through eighth-grade classes collected funds to donate to pennies for patients.
In total, the school was able to raise close to $13,000.
Those funds will directly benefit patients in the tri-state area.
Burlington Elementary has been participating in the fundraising event for the last 15 years.
“You’re not just donating a dollar, you’re giving somebody like some hope and it’s just nice,” said 8th grader Katelynn Berg.
“Every year I think everybody really looks forward to it –and it’s a lot of fun. Especially since we’re raising money for such a great cause,” said 8th grader Laney Wahus.
All 15 years combined, the school has raised more than $100,000 for pennies for patients.
