Summer temperatures hit Stark County this weekend, but thanks to some late Spring showers yesterday the potential for fire has now been dampened.
The fire index rating, right now, is low in the Stark County area.
At this time there are no burning restrictions in place for grills or outdoor fire pits, but the Dickinson Fire Department is reminding people that controlled burns are not allowed in city limits.
The Stark County Emergency Manager put the Burn Ban in effect last week when the fire index rating was high, due to dry and windy conditions.
Even though the rating is low now, the fire department is advising people check the fire rating on the department’s Facebook page, before conducting any type of burn.
Fire Marshal, Mark Selle of the Dickinson Fire Department, said the rating can change daily or even hourly due to conditions.
“Anytime you plan on doing any kind of burning: fire pit, grilling, any type of thing like that. You want to check that fire index and make sure you know what category it is in”.
