On Wednesday the Dunn County Commission approved the emergency manager’s decision to issue a burn ban for the county.
Dunn County emergency manager Denise Brew said no burning will be allowed when the fire index rating is high, very high, or at the Red Flag stage.
However, garbage pit burning and large controlled burns are not allowed at all at this time.
People found violating a burn ban can be fined up to $1,500 and-or get 30 days in jail.
Restitution of fire suppression costs may also be sought by the court.
Brew is advising residents to check the fire index rating daily.
