Cause of early morning fire at Holiday Park under investigation

“Oh my god, it was like 10 feet up above that, the flames went straight up,” Holiday Park resident Ross Rodriguez reacted to the early morning fire that completely engulfed his neighbors mobile home in flames.

Cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Deputy State Fire Marshal.

The Minot Rural Fire Department responded with mutual aid from the city and Burlington fire departments around 3:30 Tuesday morning.

Crews had the fire contained shortly after arrival and fortunately, the occupant was not home at the time of the fire.

Fire Chief Rex Weltikol told us with the help of thermal cameras, crews were able to reach compacted hot spots.

He said the fire seemed to have started from the center of the home, which could be why it spread so quickly.

Nearby residents were initially told to evacuate, but were able to return to their homes this morning.

Rodriguez said a fire like this, just two doors down from his home, is a big eye-opener.

“The safety of my family, I’ve got two beautiful kids, a girlfriend, I got to take care of them I could care less about what’s inside the house I’ve got to take care of them,” he said.

“So thank God nobody was in there you know, thank God for that.”
