Northwestern North Dakota’s growing economy is center stage this week.
It’s national Economic Development Week and Williston is recognizing area businesses and developers who are leading the region’s growth.
Awards will be presented in four categories from major regional projects to community partnerships to ambassador to iconic business.
Already, they’ve named winners of awards from the Small Business Development Center.
The head of the city’s economic development says even though the energy industry drives the economy, a lot of other activity feeds off what happens in the oil field.
(Shawn Wenko, Williston Economic Development) “I always tell people if we can see this continued activity with oil and gas the longer the better because it makes investors and developers feel a little bit more comfortable about this area and you’ll see them start to pull the trigger on some projects.”
The Williston Economic Development Awards will be presented at a banquet Friday night at the Grand Williston Hotel.
