Century XC Sweet Celebration

Last month, the Century boys cross country team won it’s first-ever state title and head coach Brad Lies was named the Coach of the Year.
Last night, they held a sweet celebration.
Jamie Council reports.

In October, the Patriot boys cross country team raced into the history books — Earning their first-ever state title.

(Brad Lies) It feels pretty special. Anytime you make history, it’s a great thing.

(Brennan Tyler) “For a lack of a better term, it feels spectacular. It’s one of the greatest experiences that I could have ever been a part of. Just being a part of that team, you could just take that away for the rest of your life.”
And on Thursday night, the team invited the public to join in on the celebration for cake and ice cream. The 2016 team made school history, but some people in the crowd were a part of the Century cross country history.

(Brad Lies) “It’s a great thing. We have Century’s first-ever cross country coach tonight. It means a lot to give those guys an opportunity to celebrate it because it’s not only this team’s accomplishment, but it’s the team that started everything back in 1975.”

(Brennan Tyler) “I hope they are very proud of us. We’ve all worked very hard and it’s heartwarming to see them come back and support us.”
