Next season, the Bismarck Bucks will have some new friends in the Champions Indoor Football League. The league will add two, possibly three teams, for the 2018 season.
They’ll take at least one team from their competitors in the Indoor Football League. Internally, the CIF will create an new expansion team.
There’s also the potential of at least one more team joining the league.
On the flip side, there’s a franchise leaving. The Dodge City Law will no longer be members.
If the league adds two more teams, that brings the total to 15 organizations. They will have to reclassify the teams in three divisions and restructure the current playoff format.
If the league expands to 16 teams, they’ll keep the same north and south divisions and add one team to each. Under this expansion model, the CIF would keep the same playoff format .
This week, one of these ideas will become official in Wichita, Kansas during the League’s annual meetings.
All of this information is according to Bucks Coach and General Manager Richard Davis, who is on the CIF expansion committee and is at the meetings.
