Christmas is a little more than two weeks away and holiday cheer is in the air. Over two billion people celebrate the holiday around the world, and each place has their own traditions. In France, children place their shoes near the fireplace so Santa can fill them with small gifts. German children have a similar tradition of leaving their boots outside their door for Saint Nicholas to fill with nuts or candy.
The Western Plains Children’s Choirs held a concert to celebrate the traditions around the world. They sang carols carols from places as far away as Africa and Norway.
“I think it’s just the holiday spirit and it just brings everybody together –even though they’re already together, but you feel together with this,” says Tiana Copeland, Western Plains Youth Choir Alto.
She says her favorite song was the Coventry Carol mash up with What Child Is This.
