“I would say in my 19 years with the city this is the most snow I’ve seen in this site here.”
The streets are widening and snow piles are getting shorter.
But where does all the snow go?
To the Sertoma Sports Complex parking lot.
(Hair) “We’re running out of room here now. I would guess in the next week, week and a half we will probably be out of room in here and looking for some place else.”
City workers have been hauling snow since the last storm clean up, and will be until the next storm.
They’ve been cleaning up snow from snow routes and sidewalks all over Minot.
The mounds are so high, you can even see them from across town.
(Hair) “We ran around the clock for, oh I guess three weeks probably, hauling snow. I don’t know how many loads are in this site right here but I would guess probably hundreds of thousands. Hard to get a perspective how much is there.”
Hair said they’ve used the lot for years and the snow will melt into the storm drain.
However, there’s no way of knowing just when that snow will melt – he said it could very likely remain through June, depending on the weather.
