The City of Minot has been facing a couple of issues lately – one being employee retention and other is the budget.

The mayor says that the budget is balancing act.

You have to use the resources you have and try to meet the communities needs.

This partly leads into employee retention which is a bigger problem in firefighter and police departments.

City Leaders compared Minot to other surrounding areas to find a possible solutions.

“So, sorting through all of that and coming up with a plan to combat it I think will be the challenge for the city, staff, and the council to work toward,” said Chuck Barney, Minot Mayor.

Some of things the city compared for employee retention included work benefits, pay, and retirement plans.
