The Mandan Chiefs are still alive, but the Bismarck Governors are heading home.
Mandan faced Grand Forks in the first elimination game of the day, and Mandan got the offense going early.
The Chiefs posted a few runs in the top of the third, the first on a Jaden Andresen RBI single.
The second run came across on a groundout, and the third via a wild pitch.
Grand Forks would tie it at three, but Andresen took back some momentum courtesy of a diving catch in center field.
Grand Forks grabbed a 4-3 lead, but Mandan charged back. Ty Leingang delivered a game-tying RBI single in the fifth, and the Chiefs would continue rallying and eliminate Grand Forks by a score of 8-5. Mandan plays tomorrow at 4 p.m. against West Fargo.
The Bismarck Governors later took to the field against the Minot Vistas.
In the third inning, Minot led 1-0 and had the bases loaded, and the Vistas would add another run when Johnny Tubbs got hit by a pitch.
The next player was Connor Taney, and he drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-0 Minot.
It would be 4-0 before the Govs get the offense going, as Alex Jacobs earned a bases loaded walk to make it 4-1.
Logan Morse added a sacrifice fly to cut Minot’s lead to 4-2, and the Governors would rally further to tie things at 4.
With the game still tied in the bottom of the ninth, Minot’s Creighton Rudolph delivered a walkoff single to right field, eliminating the Governors and giving the Vistas a 5-4 win.
