Class B Boys Basketball Tournament tips off today

The Class B Boys Basketball tournament tips off today .. and eight is the magic number.
Eight teams will compete for the state title.

With teams and supporters coming in from eight cities from all over the state, the weekend is projected to bring in eight million dollars in revenue.

10,000 people are expected to fill the seats at the MSU Dome this weekend. Preparations are in order for the show to go on starting Thursday afternoon at 1 pm and ending with the Championship game at 8 o’clock this Saturday.

By calculating the average expense for one person to spend on hotel, food, and shopping, the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau expects the tournament to bring in millions of dollars, despite the storm.

The Class B Tournament Committee has dedicated time and efforts to make all visitors feel welcome.

“The class B tournament is like the Cadillac of all sporting events. It’s certainly the highlight of the year for anyone that’s a sports fan, Rianne Kuhn, Director of Marketing and Communications at the Minot Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, said. “When they come into Minot, we want to roll out that red carpet.”

Teams from as far as Thompson or Ellendale, North Dakota left town on Wednesday to beat the winter weather.

That long trip to the Magic City will be well worth it at the Dome and throughout town, as well.
