Carrington has won the Class B state title for the last three years. They will not make it four in a row.
Thompson rallied late to eliminate Carrington 6-5.
The other semifinal game featured Nelson County and Kidder County, and it was Nelson County who won 4-1.
Before the game, Kidder County’s Dillon Steinolfson said the team had had its ups and downs, but the team was peaking during tournament time.
“We started off basically never really showed up to game with a full team like we have here,” Steinolfson said. “There’s always three or four of us missing. Whether it’s work, family problems, so we never really played as a team, came to regionals, had the full team, and we just couldn’t put it together. We practiced our butts off for that full week. We got those extra days of practice and showed up to the tournament and we got the full team and we’re all playing.”
But with the loss to Nelson County, Kidder County’s postseason has come to an end.
