The Bismarck State Mystics baseball team won their opening round match up of the Region XIII tournament against Southeast (NE) on May 12 at Dwyer Field.
BSC flirted with disaster from the start. In the top of the first, they were able to get out of a bases loaded jam with a 4-6 fielder’s choice.
In the top of the second, they surrender their first run of the game.
Later in the inning, tempers flared after Ben Palensky failed to slide on a play at the plate. Palensky was immediately ejected. Soon after, Mystics catcher Trever Leingang and Palensky exchanged words. Then, Southeast’s players lift the dugout and began walking toward the field.
Order was eventually restored.
The altercation motivated BSC to 3-2 win. With the victory they play Dakota College, who defeated Williston in the first game of the tourney, at 7 p.m. on May 12 at Dwyer Field.
