One Bismarck dog has become social media famous but not for the best reasons.
Mocha, a young German short hair pointer, has been missing for almost a week. His owner Blaine took to Facebook to find help, and he got more than he bargained for.
He says, “I can’t say enough about Facebook. I’m one of those people that believes people spend too much time on their phone. But this event is way beyond any expectations I have. I’m literally fielding thousands of calls and text messages through Facebook as well as my personal phone.”
His Facebook page already has over one thousand likes. Complete strangers have joined in on the search for Mocha.
“The outpouring from the community up in this development that we lost. I had people coming out literally that I’ve never met before calling my name.
Blaine tells us that one of the first calls he made was to animal control. I spoke to one of their officers on how to make sure this doesn’t happen to you.
“Dogs are notorious for climbing snowbanks. So, make sure that your fence lines are low enough to where they can’t cross them. Always keep identification on your dog, even a name tag with a phone number,” says Missy Hilsendeger, an animal control officer.
As for mocha, he got out by a door left open. And Blaine isn’t giving up any time soon.
“I’m not stopping. The problem is that we all have jobs, we all have kids, we all have other pets we have to take care of. So, this first week is critical. I mean, the hope is that we’ll get him back no matter when, but this first week is critical through the weekend,” says Blaine.
There is still hope for the lost dog. Mocha was spotted just yesterday but Blaine couldn’t get to him fast enough.
Blaine mentioned that he has even gotten calls from out of state numbers. He can’t believe how many people are worried about his dog.
