Approximately 1,200 soldiers are buried in Rosehill Memorial Cemetery, here in Minot.
Each year, the community is invited to plant flags between each grave in preparation for Memorial Day services. Skip Gjeree, the Adjutant of Minot Disabled American Veterans, has helped place flags here for the past 17 years. He believes it is our responsibility to remember the soldiers and the sacrifices they made.
Gjeree honors the veterans by reading each gravestones while he places the flags nearby.
“The veterans, whether they served in one service or another, it’s not that important, but it’s interesting,” says Skip Gjeree, Adjutant of Minot Disabled American Veterans.
The Memorial Day services will begin at 8:00AM Monday morning with petal scattering over the Souris at the 8th street NW bridge and will be followed by a motorcycle processional at 10:30AM towards Rosehill Memorial Cemetery.
