Congressman Kevin Cramer was at the White House Friday.
He and several North Dakota ag leaders met with President Trump to talk about tariffs and trade.
The news comes on the heels of the President announcing a 25 percent tariff on thousands of Chinese imports.
And Beijing retaliated by saying they will introduce their own tariffs on high-valued American exports like– farm products, cars, and crude oil.
“To varying degrees, some of them are very thrilled, I would encourage you to talk to them individually when we are in a place that that can happen. And some of them aren’t so thrilled. I think we all have a fair bit of anxiety about it, and I think that’s the underlying issue,” says Cramer.
Experts say the move by both countries steps up the potential for a trade war between the world’s two biggest economies.
