Today, another school year kicks off for dozens of schools around North Dakota…

Emily Medalen has an update on construction and traffic in the Bismarck area.
A few roads in this area are closed, and since there are lots of schools around here, it’ll probably get a little congested this morning.
If you are going to be dropping off your kids at school this morning – it may help to leave earlier than you normally would.
We also spoke with the city construction engineer – who mentioned that since there are several road construction projects in town right now-
The traffic that comes with the first day of school will only be MORE backed up than usual on this day.
“We would advise that the traveling public find an alternate route. Leave earlier. Give yourself plenty of time. Because even though the construction areas are posted speed limit of maybe 25 mph, you may have to go slower than that at times,” says Linda Oster, Design & Construction Engineer, City of Bismarck.
3rd through 4th street between Divide and Rosser and surrounding streets are closed because of road maintenance.
So is Boulevard from 4th-6th – that one may be closed for several weeks.
North Washington near west central ave. is open for traffic right now, but there still is some construction… which is supposed to wrap up next week.
These are the three biggest projects that you may want to avoid this morning if you can.
