With a storm this strong blasting the state, the power supply can be a concern.
Rural electric cooperatives are keeping in contact – watching for problems and ready to respond to restore electricity.
That includes coops that are well away from the storm’s path.
At Verendrye Electric in Minot and Velva, crews are standing by to lend a hand where it’s needed.
(Tom Rafferty, Verendrye Electric) “Around Verendrye’s service area, it’s looking pretty good. We don’t have any issues with outages right now. But we are monitoring the other coops, we’re keeping in communication with them and if something develops worse later, we’re ready to go and help if needed.”
Rafferty says the last time the state had a major outage was 2011 when a storm took down miles and miles of power lines in the Dickinson area.
