Corp Predicts Higher Peak Level for Lake Sakakawea

The Corps of Engineers has increased its projection for the peak level at Lake Sakakwea but, it continues the plan to limit releases from the big lake through Garrison Dam to 60,000 CFS.
According to a new three-week forecast released today, the Corps predicts Sakakawea will top-out at 1853.1 feet. That’s less that one foot below the maximum level of the lake, which is 1854 feet.
It continues the creeping increases in peak predictions for the lake over the past month.
Meanwhile, the projection calls for releases into the Missouri River that flows through Bismarck-Mandan to stay at 60,000 CFS.
If that plan holds, the river should not get to the minor flood stage in Bismarck-Mandan.
