Cramer Looks Ahead to New Role as Senator

Now that some of the excitement of last night has calmed, Senator-Elect Kevin Cramer spoke about what comes next.

Cramer still has until January to get things done in the House. He says the farm bill is a priority for this session. While he’s been a Representative for 6 years, he’ll be a freshman Senator as he transitions to this new role. Cramer said he won’t be setting any deadlines for himself in the senate, hoping to learn the ropes first.

Rep. Kevin Cramer: “One of the things that I’m going to try to exercise, that I’m not very good at exercising some times, particularly in the first 6 months, is patience. When I said earlier that I need to remind myself, I am 1 of 100, I am the US Senator. As the president tells me, its one of three of the most exclusive clubs in the world, however, I am still freshman.”

Our reporter tells us Kevin Cramer and Heidi Heitkamp still have not spoken. Cramer told us if they do speak, he’d congratulate her on the successes of her career, and that he’s enjoyed the times they worked together.
