Love. It was one of the top things suggested by Minot residents.

“The feeling we get from that is that people want to have a kinder community and a community that takes care of one another,” said Build Minot director Janet Anderson.

It was only one part of the nearly three thousand suggestions Build Minot received.

“The idea was to take mega block Legos, so the big legos and put them on three different platforms where they can rotate throughout the city and people could write on the blocks with permanent marker what they would like to see from the city,” said Anderson.

Things like more ice cream shops, recycling, and some new restaurants were suggested.

“I feel like everything here is coming, it’s slowly building which is cool cause I’ve been here for two years but it’s not fast enough,” said one local resident.

She adds that more activities for adults are needed in the community.

“Kind like a Dave and busters or something of that nature”.

The top five categories from the study revealed residents wanted more recreation, transportation, city beautification and help for at risk populations.

“More for the less fortune, maybe a little bit more homeless stuff, food pantries, everything seems to be hurting right now in those areas,” a local resident said.

“Recreation was by far the biggest thing people wanted to see, mostly affordable and family friendly recreation,” said Anderson.

The magic city operates seventeen parks with various facilities, and each year the State Fair is held at the fair grounds.

“We need input, so we did this partially for our own benefit so that we could see what people wanted and that will help how we influence our programming and our services but more importantly this can be used by many other organizations in the community and so our next step is going to be to get the information out to them,” said Anderson.

With the hope that residents feel that love.
