Well if you’re closer to Bismarck – you can now enjoy our zoo even more.
The Dakota Zoo is open and in full commission for summer, and happening now…Emily Medalen is live with us.
Emily, what’s new at the zoo this summer?
Well, besides some babies that we’ve talked about before, like the baby bison, monkey, and calf…
There’s a new barn going in for the goats, and a coyote exhibit that’s under construction.
In the meantime though, all of the animals are out enjoying the beautiful weather, and many families have been right there with them for the past couple of weeks.
The Dakota Zoo is now open every day from 10 to 7… and Wednesday nights there are special programs, so they’re open an extra hour.
One zoo director says visiting the zoo is an outing that never gets old… he’s excited for what this summer has to offer.
“It’s another season. It’s another chance for us to do some different things here at the zoo, hopefully create some more new exhibits, or redo some of the older ones, and that’s exciting for me. Just to see the kids expression, and families spending time together,” said Rod Fried, Assistant Zoo Director.
He said the otters, tigers and bears are some crowd favorites.
