The Dickinson city commission voted no on a proposal for curb side recycling, after only receving one offer.

The city rejected the request for proposal because the rate was out of their price range.

G and G Garbage Inc. in Dickinson was offering their services at nine dollars per household a month.

The commission was hoping for less than six dollars.

City administrator Shawn Kessel says he was surprised the city only received one offer, after talking with a number companies who seemed to be interested.

Kessel says if they can’t find a company to do it, the city will take on the service themselves.

“Recycling isn’t going to go away in town,” he said. “It’s just a matter of who is going to be the service provider.”

The city commission will continue to seek companies to provide the service for another three week period.
