Dickinson man guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint gets sentenced

A Dickinson man who pled guilty to sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint in her home was sentenced Tuesday morning at the Stark County Courthouse in Dickinson, ND.

Southwest district judge, James Gion, sentenced 51-year-old Stephen Wynn to 20 years in prison, with 13 years of the sentence suspended for 30 years.

Back in August 2018, Wynn pled guilty to gross sexual imposition, a Class AA Felony, and terrorizing, a Class C Felony.

Wynn also pled guilty to two misdemeanors for violating a restraining order.

Back in December 2017, Wynn forced a Dickinson woman to engage in a sexual act with him while in possession of a firearm.

The victim had previously issued a restraining order against him in November 2017.

Shortly after the incident he eluded law enforcement, and he was later captured in Brooksville, Florida in January 2018.

After his capture law enforcement transported him back to Dickinson.

Wynn will now be transported to the State Penitentiary in Bismarck, ND to begin his sentence.

He would of been looking at life in prison if his case had gone to trial and been found guilty by a jury for his crimes.
