Dickinson police are asking for publics’ help in assault case

On Friday July 06 around 10 p.m., Dickinson Police Officers responded  a 911 call of an assault with a firearm at the 2000 blk of 1st Ave West.

Initial reports Indicated a person had been possibly shot in the head, but it was later confirmed a  male victim with injuries to his head  was transported to CHI St. Alexius by the Dickinson Ambulance Service.  

The injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and inconsistent with a gunshot, but likely blunt force trauma.  

This incident reportedly began as a verbal altercation, but it then escalated to a physical altercation into the street by a nearby sports bar in front of witnesses.

Witnesses told officers at the scene of the incident the suspect is a black male, wearing dark clothing, in possession of a handgun.

The suspect has been identified as 38 year old Vincent K. Hopper of Dickinson, who fled the scene  prior to officers arrival.  

Officers are currently trying to locate Hopper for questioning.
