In support of LGBTQ awareness, Dickinson State University held an open forum on campus today as part of its Courageous Conversation’s program.
During the event, students and faculty discussed issues facing the LGBTQ community, and
participated in activities that dealt with people feeling alienated from family, friends, and society due to their sexual orientation and identity.
School officials hope the discussion will create awareness and inclusiveness on campus.
” We haven’t heard any individual concerns as of yet, but that might be because it is such an invisible topic on our campus, and students don’t feel comfortable talking about it at all,” said Carmen Wilson, Provost and VP of Academic and Student Affairs at DSU.
Courageous Conversations will meet again in October for another LGBTQ discussion.
