District 47 Republican candidate Duane Sand faces a class A misdemeanor charge after allegedly lying on a campaign mailer. The report was filed by his opponent, incumbent republican George Keiser.

According to the affidavit, Sand sent out a flyer through the mail that listed votes Keiser had made on various bills in previous legislative sessions. On one of the bills regarding property taxes in 2013, Sand says Keiser voted no. But according to the minutes of the voting, Keiser did vote yes.

Sand has been charged with publication of false information in political advertisements, a class A misdemeanor. If found guilty, it carries a maximum penalty of up to 1 year in jail and a fine of $3,000.
