Giving can go a long way.
A month ago we told you a group of donors and alumni at Dickinson State University working to buy the old University Foundation Building.
With a lot of hard work and contributions, that old building is now back in the hands of the school and will serve as the new home for DSU’s heritage foundation.
The Foundation’s executive director Ty Orton says the support from the community shows the future of the
“They have gone so far above and beyond. Its quite an accomplishment for what those people do. It also says that DSU is on its way back,” Orton said.
Orton says the foundation a year ago at this time basically had nothing, but since has now raised more than 4 million dollars.
He adds all of this has to do with the support of the community and he can’t thank them enough.
“It just shows the support this community has for this university. It’s about the university and it’s about the future of the university,” he said.
The purchase took 39 donors and a total of 750,000 dollars to get the deal done.
