Fall is in the air and its a fine time for friends to rediscover Downtown Minot.
Business owners are welcoming shoppers with a wine walk tomorrow night.
Jennifer Kleen tells us how building friendships helps the bottom line.
(Jennifer Kleen, KX News) Local business owners have heart for the community,
(Valerie Stadheim, Grow with Me) “I like the atmosphere downtown.”
(Kleen) …and heart for each other.(Stadheim) “Everybody pulls together to help everybody succeed because
really, for every business that succeeds, it means you’re going to.”
(Kleen) The Downtown Minot Business Professional Association figures a sure way to make friends? Welcome them for a wine walk.
(Katy Allers, Executive Director Minot Downtown Business Association) “The purpose of the wine walks is to get people downtown and into the businesses. It’s a way for people to check out some of the businesses that they wouldn’t normally go into.
(Kleen) New friends translates to new business.
(Allers) “This last summer wine walk, we have a new business downtown that a lot of people didn’t realize this business was there and the owner said that he got some business from the wine walk. So that’s one of the reasons we do it too, to get some exposure for downtown.”
(Kleen) Downtown with a new look.
(Allers) “We want you to come down and check out the new improvements that have been made on Main Street and down Central Avenue.”
(Kleen) Central is open. The parking garages are open.
(Allers) “Every place accessible.”
(Kleen) Two blocks of Main Street are complete.
(Allers) “Don’t let any of the construction hinder you.”
(Stadheim) “We participate because it’s fun for one thing. We like to show off our store and what people can buy. We have a lot of specials that day, which I think a lot of stores do. But I think as long as people are coming downtown and see what’s available, they’re more apt to come downtown and do some shopping. It’s more your local stores. They’re not stores you can find anywhere else.”
(Kleen) In the case for Grow with Me, youll find a give and take.
(Stadheim) “Gently loved clothing for great prices and it’s kind of a pay it forward type of thing.”
(Kleen) With a map and wine glass, its a different approach to pre-holiday shopping.
(Allers) “Christmas is right around the corner and this is a way to check out the local shops and we’re all local down here so it’s a great way to get out and support your local businesses.”
(Stadheim) “It brings people down and let’s them know, hey, there are other options, I can come down here rather than shopping the big box and get something you need, you can buy it downtown.”
(Kleen) Grab a friend and make some new ones exploring the heart of downtown. In Minot, Jennifer Kleen, KX News.
