40% of traffic-related deaths between Christmas and New Year’s involve drunk drivers, that’s according to the US National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

With apps like Lyft and Uber, as well as local taxi services, its easier than ever to get a safe ride home. One Lyft driver told us because of the extra partying, many drivers make a point to be available on holidays like tonight.

“We know there’s going to be a lot of drunk people out and stuff, they’re really looking for rides. So I just want to make sure that we collect as many of those as we can, so that way nobody is forced to drive –or even feels the need to drive home by themselves,” says Chris Tom, Lyft Driver.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation and Vision Zero are offering a 10 dollar voucher for the first 1,000 Lyft riders this new year’s eve with the code Vision Zero ND.
