Dunn County deputy announces run for sheriff

Sheriff Deputy, Ron McCloud, said he is going to run for sheriff of Dunn County.

McCloud has thirteen years in law enforcement and has been working for the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department for six of those.

He is a Halliday resident and considers himself a fixture within the community.

He’s the only canidate currently running from the sheriffs department and see’s that as an advantage.

MCloud also said that he has “100-percent support” from the department.

McCloud decided to run when Sheriff Clay Coker announced his intentions to retire at the end of the year.

If elected, he said he would like to focus on creating better communication with the other first responders in the area.

“Emergency manager, fire department, road maintenance . . . all come together on a committee  with the local police force . . .  we can get together and decide how we can move forward and make or community a better place,” said McCloud

The other candidates for Dunn County Sheriff right now are Killdeer Chief of Police Eric Braathen, Brad Petry, and Ron Krivoruchka.
